News for Apple users

iOS 13 was unveiled last month but as usual with iOS updates not every older Apple device will be able to run it.

According to Apple, iOS 13 – likely to be released in September – will be supported on the following devices:

• iPhone XS, XS Max, XR
• iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus
• iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
• iPhone 6S and 6S Plus
• iPhone SE
• iPod Touch, 7th generation

iOS 13 will also be pre-installed on the new iPhone(s) Apple introduces this Autumn.

Specifically the devices that will NOT be able to upgrade to iOS13 are:

• iPhone 5S
• iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
• iPod touch, 6th generation

As in previous releases, Apple have concluded that the older hardware couldn’t execute the new OS and/or run recent apps without serious performance issues.
